About Geelong

The City of Greater Geelong has a population of approximately 230,000 and is the second largest city in Victoria after Melbourne.

Geelong combines the best elements of a cosmopolitan city with some of the world’s most magnificent surf beaches just a stone’s throw away. Only an hour’s drive from Melbourne, Geelong offers a range of lifestyle choices - inner city, suburban, waterfront, coastal and rural.

The city’s vibrant retail heart is alive with cafes and restaurants and cinemas. Overlooking Corio Bay, with its backdrop of yachts, is the pier and waterfront precinct which has been transformed to accommodate stylish new eateries, beautiful landscaped gardens, fantastic public art encircled by walking, cycling and skating paths.

About Newtown

The Barwon River runs around Newtown and several large reserves that contain playing fields, sporting clubs, wetlands and a bicycle/walking track are beside it.

There are hundreds of beautiful Victorian and Edwardian houses, and several historic mansions, including Barwon Grange, west of the river. It has always been a desirable place of residence and it is the location of many of Geelong's oldest and most valuable properties.

Newtown neighbours the established Queens Park golf course in the west and Kardinia Park to the east.

The suburb boasts some of the city's finest schools - The Geelong College, Sacred Heart College and St Joseph's College - and an excellent shopping precinct filled with cafes, restaurants and specialty shops.
